Stephanie Porras
Assistant Front Office Manager
Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa
Bernalillo, NM
Current Job & Responsibilities:
I am responsible for assisting leadership and providing guidance to front office staff, creating positive experiences for guests, anticipating guests' needs and resolving any issues or complaints. Most importantly, my job is to care for guests, as well as my colleagues. (Of course, the front desk is usually the go-to for most questions or concerns, so there is something new to learn and accomplish every day!)
What I Learned From the HRTM Program:
The most valuable thing that I gained from the HRTM program is an amazing network/community of people. Throughout my time in the program, everyone was very supportive of one another. I formed close friendships with my peers, as well as professional relationships with my professors.
What I Most Enjoy About My Career:
There are opportunities every single day to make a difference in someone's day! Although customer service can be difficult at times, putting a smile on the face of someone that you were able to help makes it all worthwhile.
Memorable Experience:
A guest came to check in with me one afternoon and really enjoyed the music that was playing in the lobby. We talked for a few minutes about it before she went to her room. We had a few CDs in the back office of the music so later that afternoon, I wrote her a note and put the CD in her room. Little did I know that such a small gesture like that would make such an impact on this guest. When she came to thank me, she gave me a hug and told me that she had just lost someone close to her. It just goes to show that you never know what is going on in someone's life. I will always remember this experience and will continue to show compassion towards guests.
