Current Job & Responsibilities:
I bought Renee's Bridal in 2014 and as of January 1, 2020, I combined and rebranded Renee's Bridal and Elegant Events to Livingston Bridal and Events. We are a full service boutique that handles apparel, alterations, event planning, and decorating. In a typical day I work on booking events, contacting vendors, booking dress sales, handling staffing needs for various events, and everything else that comes with the territory of owning a business.
What I Learned From the HRTM Program:
My background in HRTM has been invaluable to me as most of the wedding industry is customer service oriented and requires a very high attention to detail to client's needs and, most importantly, making a memorable experience. Food and Beverage classes laid the foundation for running a successful dinner service, hospitality law reminds me to think through situations with caution to ensure the safety of clients and guests as well as the "safety" of the company. Leadership classes have helped ground me when working with and motivating staff. The program provided hands on experience galore! I could continue with the versatility of the real life applications this degree has provided. In short, the HRTM program has prepared me for my journey of owning a business.
What I Most Enjoy About My Career:
Many people imagine that weddings and event planning is a very glamorous and easy industry to be in, but it takes a lot of hard work and at times many nights, weekends, and holidays away from family. However, the most rewarding part of our journey is seeing each client's vision come to life and having the ability to take the stress away from their family and friends. There is nothing more satisfying than receiving a great review or thank you card following an event!
Experience:
After graduating with my degree in HRTM in 2007, I pursued a Master's in Business. It was then that I created my first business Elegant Events and Invitations. As I was building that brand, I began work at Renee's Bridal as a sales associate to help grow my clientele for events and after that, the rest is history!
